We were asked to supply a steel making facility that could produce a minimum of 200,000 tonnes of rebar a year.
We sourced a used plant at Ocean State Steel Inc, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. We then performed the dismanlting and matchmarking down to the smallest detail including taking notes of the location of every single bolt.
As well as dismantling we prepared the equipment for transportation. All the smaller items and electrical equipment were safely packed into purchased containers and the larger awkward pieces were protected for breakbulk shipping. Working with one of our transportation partners we arranged the charter of a dedicated vessel to Poti, Georgia. From there we performed the transportation by road through the mountains to Baku, Azerbijan.
We then rebuilt the plant including the uprating it to full steel mill specification utilizing and redesigning a 1960's Rolling Mill layout.
The whole project was completed and commenced production earlier than contracted and underbudget.
